11th Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser - Thank You For Your Support! Email Print PDF RSS By The Web Team July 21, 2010   Even though heavy showers and lightning came through the North Fork, it didn't dampen the spirits or stop those hardy golfers from participating in the Cutchogue Fire Dept's 11th Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser held on Monday, July 19th. The day started out nice enough, with warm temperatures and blue skies. But as the tee off time quickly approached at the beautiful Island's End Golf Course in Greenport, the heavens opened up with heavy downpours and thunder and lightning - threatening to leave the close to 100 participants confined to the clubhouse for the afternoon. But luck was with the golfers on this day, as the storm quickly blew through the area and everyone was able to get out and play with sunny skies, with even warmer temperatures and some temporarily soggy greens. After a relaxing day of golf, all participants were invited back to the Cutchogue Fire Department for an awards ceremony and to enjoy some seafood appetizers and CFD's Famous Barbecue Chicken. During the awards ceremony prizes were presented for the days golf perfomances. Particularly noteworthy this year was a special presentation of a "Longest Drive at the 17th Hole" plaque. It was donated by the Fogarty family in memory of their son and brother, John, who passed away earlier this year. John was a member of the Cutchogue Fire Dept, and was an avid golfer known for his long drives. The plaque was presented to Judy Victoria by the Fogarty family in reward of her powerful drive which represented the longest drive at the 17th hole. Nice job!! The Officers and Members of the Cutchogue Fire Department would like to thank all of our friends and community members who participated in this year's outing, along with the Fogarty family for sponsoring the John Fogarty Memorial plaque. CFD would like to thank all of the tee and hole sponsors for this year's event, as well as the many businesses that donated gifts and prizes. Your continued support helps to make the annual outing a success. Thank You to Chairman Jeffrey Smith and everyone who helped out to make this event come together. An afternoon downpour threatens the tee off time.   The rain and lightning finally pass, but the tee off time will be delayed 45 minutes so the course can dry out a bit. Puddles, puddles, everywhere!   Even the putting practice area needs to dry out. While everyone is waiting for the course to dry off, it's a great time to get in some practice on the driving range.   Ladies & Gentleman... START YOUR GOLF CARTS!!!! And the CFD 11th Annual Golf Tournament finally gets under way.         Ooh... just missed that one! Congratulations and Thank You to Walter Krupski (l) for your's and Capital One's many years of support of the CFD. Good Luck in Retirement.     CFD members Mike Lessard Sr. and Jim Fogarty Jr. work the refreshment station, satisfying the needs of the hungry and thirsty golfers.     Hey, are you sure this is supposed to be a sand trap and not a water hazard?!? Success in getting the ball out!     Just a little tap should do it...   ...it's getting there... ...and he sinks the putt. And the crowd goes wild!!             A beautiful view for golfing, right on the Long Island Sound.   Another successful shot. CFD Ex-Chief and current CFD Commissioner Joseph Zuhoski Jr. monitors one of the holes for "A Hole in One". A special prize is given out to any player that makes a "Hole in One" at his assigned hole.   CFD Member Joseph Zuhoski Sr. (Joe Jr.'s dad) officiates at the other end of the hole to keep the records honest if anyone gets a "Hole in One"     Ex-Chief and current CFD Board of Fire Commissioners Chairman Jim Fogarty Sr.putts his way on the green.   Ex-Chief Jim Fogarty Jr., Ellen Fogarty and Ex-Chief & Comissioner Jim Fogarty Sr. stand with Judy Victoria, after presenting her with the John W. The golfers get to dine on the famous golden brown CFD BBQ Chicken.   CFD Chief Andrew McCaffery brings out the meals to the hungry golfers.     Plenty of local delicious corn just waiting to be served.
