11th Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser - Thank You For Your Support!

July 21, 2010

Even though heavy showers and lightning came through the North Fork, it didn't dampen the spirits or stop those hardy golfers from participating in the Cutchogue Fire Dept's 11th Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser held on Monday, July 19th.

The day started out nice enough, with warm temperatures and blue skies. But as the tee off time quickly approached at the beautiful Island's End Golf Course in Greenport, the heavens opened up with heavy downpours and thunder and lightning - threatening to leave the close to 100 participants confined to the clubhouse for the afternoon.

But luck was with the golfers on this day, as the storm quickly blew through the area and everyone was able to get out and play with sunny skies, with even warmer temperatures and some temporarily soggy greens.

After a relaxing day of golf, all participants were invited back to the Cutchogue Fire Department for an awards ceremony and to enjoy some seafood appetizers and CFD's Famous Barbecue Chicken.

During the awards ceremony prizes were presented for the days golf perfomances.

Particularly noteworthy this year was a special presentation of a "Longest Drive at the 17th Hole" plaque. It was donated by the Fogarty family in memory of their son and brother, John, who passed away earlier this year. John was a member of the Cutchogue Fire Dept, and was an avid golfer known for his long drives.

The plaque was presented to Judy Victoria by the Fogarty family in reward of her powerful drive which represented the longest drive at the 17th hole. Nice job!!

The Officers and Members of the Cutchogue Fire Department would like to thank all of our friends and community members who participated in this year's outing, along with the Fogarty family for sponsoring the John Fogarty Memorial plaque.

CFD would like to thank all of the tee and hole sponsors for this year's event, as well as the many businesses that donated gifts and prizes.

Your continued support helps to make the annual outing a success.

Thank You to Chairman Jeffrey Smith and everyone who helped out to make this event come together.
