| On Saturday July 24th, while members were gathering at the firehouse for a work detail, CFD was activated for a reported Car Fire in the area of Macari Vineyards on Route 25.
Chief McCaffery arrived and advised responding units of a working vehicle fire with the fire consuming the entire engine compartment.
First due engine 8-5-4 arrived shortly after, and firefighters deployed two attack lines to extinguish the fire. While at the scene, CFD Rescue Squad members also assisted an injured bicyclist in Cutchogue Village.
The Car fire would be the third of the four calls CFD would respond to on Saturday.
Earlier that morning CFD assisted the Mattituck FD at the scene of a Motor vehicle accident (see related story) and also responded to a Motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle near the Village Green.
