MVA- Rollover on County Route 48

Early Saturday Morning at 12:55 a.m. Cutchogue's Bravest were paged out to respond to a Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) on County Route #48 near Depot Lane.

The CFD Chiefs along with Southold Town Police units were the first to arrive and found a 1 car rollover collision near Horseshoe Drive.

Chief Andrew McCaffery relayed the updated location to the responding units along with the report of four victims were involved.

The vehicle had crossed into the median an into the eastbound lanes of Route 48, rolling over before coming to rest upright in the center median.

Fire and EMS crews arrived on scene and began treating the 4 patients who were out of the vehicle upon arrival.

Due to the nature of the accident, a Suffolk County Police Medi-vac Helicopter was requested to respond and landed in a sod field off of Depot Lane that was secured by Engine 8-5-3.

Mutual Aid from the Mattituck FD was also requested to assist at scene with an additional ambulance.

One patient was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital by Helicopter while the remaining three patients were transported to local hospitals by Mattituck and Cutchogue FD Ambulances.

Crews were on scene for approximately 45 minutes until the roadway could be cleared.

This would be the first of four calls for the day, as CFD Volunteers would be in store for another busy weekend.
