Progress Report:

In mid-August, groundbreaking officially took place for the Southold Town Volunteer Firefighters memorial in Cochran Park in Peconic. (click here for story: http://www.cutchoguefiredept.org/apps/public/news/newsView.cfm?News_ID=458 )

In the weeks since progress has continued with concrete work and the addition of the stone monuments, brick work and flag pole.

At this point most of the bricks have been laid and soon over 160 memorial bricks purchased through the "Buy a Brick Campaign" will be placed in the memorial.

Irrigation, electrical work and other finishing touches will take place as the planned November 11th dedication draws near.

Countless hours of hardwork and planning by the Southold Town Fire Chiefs Council and the Southold Town Volunteer Firefighters Memorial Committee have made this project become a reality.

The official dedication ceremony of the memorial is scheduled to be held on Sunday November 11th at 1:00pm.

The entire community is invited to attend and join us as we come together to honor our fallen heroes.

Members of the community are still invited to become a part of this project by participating in the "Buy a Brick" fundraiser to help raise funds for the memorial.

This campaign will continue even after the completion of the memorial and bricks will be added to the memorial on a regular basis.
