Over the course of Mother's day, CFD Volunteers remained busy as they answered 5 calls for service throughout the day. These calls were included (2) Motor Vehicle Accidents, (2) EMS Alarms and a Helicopter Landing.

The Day began shortly after 12 noon. when Department was alerted to respond a reported motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle on Route 48 near Bridge Lane. A motorcyclist was injured when he lost control of the motorcycle and skidded on the roadway.

The injured person was treated at the scene by CFD Rescue Squad personnel and was transported to a nearby sod field where he was transferred to a medi-vac helicopter for transport to Stony Brook University Hospital.

During the evening hours at 8:27 pm , CFD would respond to the second MVA of the day when they were dispatched to a 2 car collision on Route 48 near the Town Landfill. Two patients were transported with minor injuries to local Hospitals. Firefighters stood by and checked the vehicles for any other hazards and controlled traffic until the roadways could be cleared.

Just as units were clearing the accident scene CFD was again dispatched for a second alarm, an EMS alarm on Pinewood Rd.

This alarm was handled with the assistance of the Mattituck FD who provided an ambulance for transport while both CFD ambulances were already dedicated transporting patients from the accident..

Earlier in the afternoon CFD also responded to an EMS alarm on Oregon Road.

Thank you to all the Volunteers who responded throughout the day.
