March 24, 2015

With hints spring in the air, work on a September 11th memorial began last week in front of the Cutchogue Firehouse on New Suffolk Rd.

Like many other organizations and Fire Departments across the nation, the Cutchogue Fire Department was able to obtain a piece of steel from the world Trade Center building in order to build a memorial and serve as a lasting reminder of the tragic events of September 11, 2001.

After months of planning, work began on a subtle brick pillar that with hold the piece of steel and will eventually have a memorial plaque affixed to it. The pillar will sit in front of the firehouse's main entrance and be visible to all who enter our building.

The masonry work is being done by two of our own members, Jack and Kate Michalak who own and operate Euroway Masonry here in Cutchogue.

The Officers and Members of the Cutchogue Fire Department would like to thank the Commissioners of the Cutchogue Fire District and Euroway Masonry for their support of this project.

More pictures will be posted as the project progresses.
