Early Saturday Morning the members of the Cutchogue Fire Department were called out on two occasions to respond to Car Accidents caused by Icy roads. With winter weather affecting the area over the past week, several area roads had icy areas due to freezing overnight temperatures.

The first accident occurred at Approximately 1:00a.m. on Route 25 in the area of the Cutchogue East School. Police and Firefighters arrived to find a 1 vehicle rollover accident, with minor injuries. The driver was out of the vehicle when responders arrived and was transported to Eastern Long Island Hospital for Minor injuries.

The second accident occurred at approximately 7:00 am. in the morning. A vehicle travelling westbound on County Route 48 lost control when the vehicle encountered a snow covered portion of the road, caused by heavy winds and snow drifting. The vehicle rolled over several times before coming to rest on its roof.

The driver of the vehicle was able to sef-extricate himself prior to the arrival of the first arriving units. He was treated for minor injuries and transported to Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport by the CFD Rescue Squad. Firefighters controlled the leaking fluid from the vehicle and stood by at the scene until the vehicle could be removed from the roadway.

Firefighters were on scene for approximately 45 minutes before returning to the firehouse to begin preparations for the afternoon's Cutchogue St. Patricks Day Parade.
