It is with deep regrets that the Riverhead Fire Department announces the passing of Ex-Commissioner & Ex-Captain of the Red Bird Hook & Ladder Company Richard Ligon.

Richie passed away earlier this week at his home. He was 77 years old.

Richie has been a loyal friend to the CFD family, and throughout the years has had interactions with firefighters throughout New York Sate through his involvement in the New York State Volunteer Fireman's Parade and Drill Team Captains Association, where he serves as an are representative and drill official, and a participant with the Riverhead Fire Department Ironmen Drill Team.

Locally he was a past president of the North Fork Volunteer Firemans Association, and was general ambassador of good will wherever he went.

Visitation hours will be held on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Riverhead Fire Department on Roanoake Ave. in Riverhead.

The Riverhead Fire Department will hold a firematic service on Saturday Evening 7:30 p.m at the Riverhead Fire Department.

A funeral service will take place on Monday, May 15 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Riverhead, 1018 Northville Turnpike, Riverhead, with a viewing preceding the service, beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Calverton National Cemetery.
