Mourning A Loss: Firefighter Jason Cooper Answers his Last Alarm

It is with Great Sadness that the Chiefs Announce that Firefighter Jason Cooper has answered his last alarm.

Jason passed away suddenly on June 7th at the age of 47 after being involved in an accident at his family's home.

Jason served the Department for the past 16 years carrying on a life of service to the community and nation.

He currently served as the Lieutenant of the the CFD Water rescue Team. He was a Military veteran and current member of the New York Air National Guard located at Gabreski Airport in Westhampton. He was also a current New Suffolk School Board member, and member of the Mattituck Presbyterian Church.

He will forever be known for generosity, dedication to helping others and his ability to make others laugh and smile.

The Chiefs, Officers and Members of the Cutchogue Fire Department wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife Jeanette, his sons Thomas and Robbie, Daughter Anna and Jason's' entire family.

We know that Jason has made countless friends here at CFD, and in every aspect of his life, and that he has touched the hearts of many throughout the community.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of them during this difficult time.

He will be missed by us all.

The funeral arrangements are as follows:

Visitation:

Saturday June 10th 7-9 p.m.
Sunday June 11th 2-4 &7-9 pm. at the Defriest-Grattan Funeral Home located on Route 25 in Mattituck.

Firematic service: Will be held Sunday Evening at 7:30 p.m. All Firefighters attending are asked to wear Class A uniforms.

Funeral Service:
Monday June 12th at 10 a.m. at Mattituck Presbyterian Church on Main Rd in Mattituck with Fire Department and Military Honors.

Interment to follow at the Cutchogue Cemetery.
