Kayaker Pulled to Safety off Cutchogue Beach

On Friday Afternoon at approximately 4:30 p.m the Cutchogue Fire Department was dispatched to a reported water rescue in the Long Island Sound in the area of Duck Pond Point.

Southold Town Police Communications had received a 911 call reporting a male in distress hanging onto his kayak in water.

CFD units along with Southold Town Police were initially dispatched to the scene and the Southold Fire Department was additionally called to assist at the scene with their boat.

Firefighters from both the Southold and Cutchogue Fire Departments utilized the Southold FD boat to locate and pull the man to safety.

Once on shore he was evaluated by EMS personnel and refused any medical treatment.

Thanks to the alertness of a concerned citizen and the cooperation of all the agencies involved the man was brought to shore safely.
