On Thursday Morning members of the Cutchogue Fire Department laid to rest our brother firefighter, Ex-Chief and Commissioner Andrew MCaffery.

A Mass of Christian burial was offered at Our Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church in Cutchogue, with interment following at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Cutchogue Fire Department trucks led the solemn funeral cortege past the firehouse and up Depot Lane, passing under large American flags flown from the extended ladders of Southold and Matittuck fire departments’ ladder trucks. Dozens of vehicles joined the procession.

While passing the firehouse the procession made a special stop to grant one last wish to Drew. Members of the Panthers Drill Team transferred him over to the Departments B-truck for a final pass down the Drill Team track where many summer tournaments were hosted throughout the years.

CFD Firefighters were joined by members of other area Drill teams as their trucks lined the track to offer a final salute to Drew.

Following Mass, firefighters solemnly marched behind the hearse to the cemetery as he was brought to his final resting place.

Shortly after Drew's passing, fellow firefighters from around the state showed gestures of support and sympathies. The support we have received from our community and fellow firefighters is truly remarkable. We would like to offer our sincere gratitude to everyone who attended the services..

Thank you to the staff of Suffolk County FRES, and all of our fellow firefighters and drill teams that helped give a final salute to Drew.
