Mutual Aid to Mattituck FD - Evening Structure Fire

Shortly after 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening, the Cutchogue Fire Department was dispatched to assist the Mattituck Fire Department at the scene of a working Structure fire on Legion Avenue, in Mattituck.

Mattituck FD units arrived to find a fire in a 2 story home. The fire was in the attic area of the home, with flames breaking through the roof shortly after arrival.

The Cutchogue Fire Dept. was requested to respond to the scene with a Rapid Intervention Team. (R.I.T.).

CFD firefighters aboard Heavy Rescue 8-5-5 made the response.

Once on scene CFD firefighters stood by on scene as the Rapid Intervention Team in the event of any firefighter emergencies. Once the fire was knocked down by Mattituck Firefighters, CFD provided relief crews and assisted with the extensive overhaul attempting to locate any remaining fire and hot spots.

The Southold FD provided standby coverage at the Mattituck Firehouse.

The occupants of the home were home at the time of the fire and were able to escape the blaze once it was discovered.

CFD Firefighters operated for over One hour before being released.
