New 8-5-3 Arrives in Cutchogue

On Thursday evening the Cutchogue Fire Department delivery of their newest piece of Apparatus.

The new vehicle, a 75' quint type apparatus will have the capabilities as functioning as both a first-due engine, and a ladder truck when needed. It will also have the distinction to serve as the Department's first-ever ladder truck.

Some of the features include:

Spartan ERV / Metro-star chassis
Cummins 450 hp engine
Hale 1500 gpm Qmax pump
500 gallon water tank
75' aerial ladder w/ pre-piped waterway
1000' 5 inch hose
Seating for 8 firefighters.

The next step will be to re-locate and mount the equipment from the old 8-5-3 and begin the process of driver and operator training.

The lettering and reflective striping will be completed by Jim Fetten in the coming week, along with radio installation.
