Twenty years ago today, on October 20, 1998 Cutchogue Fire Firefighters responded to a working structure fire at one of the areas most popular local restaraunts.

The fire occurred at Fishersman's Rest, located on the Main Road in Cutchogue Village, and the building now is the home to "A touch of Venice" Restraunt.

For many years before its closing in the mid 2000's "Fishermans" was a local favorite for many people, and was known as a place to gather for its good food and pizzas.

On this day at about 6:00 pm as many patrons gathered for a fundraiser at the restraunt, CFD firefighters were alerted for a working fire that was in the second floor of the building.

With flames visible from the second floor window, Firefighters arrived and were able to evacuate all of the patrons and extinguish the fire that was located in a second floor apartment.

The Cutchogue Fire Department is proud of our 90 years of dedicated service to the community. We are always looking for any old & historical articles representing our past for display on our website and in our firehouse.

If any member of the community has any photographs, newspaper clippings or historical artifacts pertaining to the Cutchogue Fire Department, please contact the website team at cutfd@optonline.net or contact the firehouse at 734-6907.
