On Wednesday evening November 7th just after 5:00 p.m. the Cutchogue fire department was alerted to respond to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of County Route 48 and Bridge Lane in Cutchogue.

Responding units arrived to find a two-vehicle accident with minor injuries. Fire and EMS personnel worked to treat the 2 drivers and control any hazards at the scene while Fire-Police controlled the traffic on the busy 4 lane highway.

The two drivers were transported by CFD ambulances to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment. Crews remained on scene for 45 minutes until the roadway was cleared.

While units were returning to HQ, Engine 8-5-4 came upon a second two-vehicle accident that had occurred in Cutchogue Village at the intersection of Main Rd. and New Suffolk Rd. Firefighters began assessing the scene and treating the injured driver until the arrival of other units.

Because both CFD ambulances were already transporting patients from the first accident, The Southold Fire department was called to the scene with an ambulance that transported the patient to Eastern Long Island Hospital.

Crews cleared the scene in 30 minutes.

CFD would respond to a total of 4 alarms on Wednesday. Volunteers responded to an overnight EMS alarm and were called to assist the Southold Fire Department at the scene of a working house fire on Jasmine lane earlier in the day.
