CFD Offers FREE Vials of Life to Residents
The Cutchogue Fire Department Rescue Squad knows that in the event of a medical emergency, both time and having access to important medical information are critical. That's why they recently launched a local Vial of Life program.
This program is recognized nationally, and is a way that you can help our Rescue Squad and other emergency responders help you in the event of a medical emergency.
It is open to everyone, though seniors citizens who live alone, and those with chronic medical conditions would especially benefit from the program. The Vial supplies important medical information about yourself that could one day be used to help save your life!
The Vial of Life is simply a plastic container similar the one prescription medications usually come in.
Inside the Vial is a form for you to list important medical information such as the following: 1. Who your doctors are 2. What existing medical conditions you may have. 3. Any special considerations or allergies you may have. 4. What medications you're currently taking. 5. Emergency contact information.
Once the form is completed and placed inside, the Vial is then placed on the top shelf of your refrigerator.
In order to alert our Rescue Squad Members that you have a Vial of Life, an identifying refrigerator magnet is provided for you to place on the outside of your refrigerator door.
If you have a medical emergency, your essential medical information is available to the Rescue Squad in a matter of seconds.
It's that easy, and it's FREE.
You can get your free Vial of Life by visiting the Cutchogue Fire Department Headquarters located at 260 New Suffolk Rd. or by stopping by the Cutchogue - New Suffolk Library.
