On Saturday morning, members of the Cutchogue Fire Department, along with the Southold Town Police and Suffolk County Police, participated in a special emergency vehicle demonstration for our local Scouts held at the Cutchogue West School Grounds.
The purpose of the event, put together by Cub Scout Pack 39 scoutmaster Richard Jernick, was to showcase the different types of equipment that our local First Responders use during an emergency.
These vehicles included an Ambulance, a Fire Engine, a Police Car and a Police Helicopter.
Several Firefighters and members of the CFD Rescue Squad were on hand to give the scouts a "show and tell" of one of our ambulances and Engine, while Police officers from the Southold Town Police Department showed the special equipment carried in their patrol cars.
Scouts had a chance to see a live demonstration from a Suffolk County Police Helicopter that landed on the grounds.
After landing, the scouts were given an up-close and personal tour of the helipcoter by the pilots and flight paramedic.
Members of the Rescue Squad demonstrated and practiced loading patients into the helicopter.
It was a great event to be a part of and showcase "what we do".
National Police Week for 2025 concluded on Saturday.
The members of CFD would like to take the opportunity to thank our response partners from the Southold Town Police Department and Suffolk County Police Department for your support throughout the year and for keeping us safe. Thank you for being a part of this event.
We look forward to celebrating National EMS Week this coming week May 18- 25. Thank you to all of our EMS providers. |
