A 16-year old boy was saved after he got pulled into the water by the incoming tide at Nassau Point on Monday, afternoon.

The incident took place at 1:35 p.m. at the end of Nassau Point Road in Cutchogue.

The teen was on the sandbar at the end of Nassau Point when the tide began to come in; he got pulled into the water and was unable to swim back to the beach.

The boy had been on the sandbar with two other people, who were able to call for help when he began to struggle swimming back to shore.

The Cutchogue Fire Department, Southold Town Police Officers, Bay Constables, and a Shelter Island bay constable were dispatched to the scene.

The Shelter Island bay constable arrived on scene first, located the teen in the water and brought him onto his boat.

The boy was conscious and alert but exhibited signs of exhaustion.

He was then transferred over to the Cutchogue Fire Department's Rescue Boat 8-5-10 for treatment by EMS personnel and brought to the New Suffolk boat ramp, where he was transported via ambulance to Peconic Bay Medical Center to be evaluated for precautionary reasons.
