CFD Responds to Fatal Fire in Jamesport

At 4:38 am Sunday morning Cutchogue Firefighters were dispatched to assist the Jamesport Fire Department at the scene of a working structure fire on St. Mary's Drive in Jamesport.

Police and Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy smoke and fire totally consuming a residence with along with a vehicle and nearby boat.

The Cutchogue FD was initially requested to stand-by at the Jamesport Firehsouse, but was redirected to assist at the scene. The crew made the response aboard Engine 8-5-4 and once on scene assisted firefighters operating on the fireground. CFD firefighters helped man several hoselines to help battle the blaze

Despite the efforts of the Firefighters the fire claimed the live of one occupant.

Additional mutual Aid was called in from the Riverhead, Mattituck & Southold F.D.'s who responded to the scene for manpower and as a rapid intervention team.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Riverhead Town Police and Suffolk County Arson Squad.

The Cutchogue Fire Department extends our heartfelt condolences and prayers to the family of the victim and all of those involved.
