This week we look back at the construction of our Ward LaFrance Engine. These pictures are circa 1973 from an inspection trip to the Ward La France factory in Elmira New York. These pictures are part of a Collection from Ex-Chief Matthew Martin.

This engine served the citizens of the Cutchogue Fire District from 1974-2001 until it was replaced by our current Pierce engine.

This truck brought several innovations to CFD that included the following:

First Diesel Engine in CFD history.
large for its time 1500 gpm pump
Pre-piped "Stang" Gun
Ward LarFrance Ambassodor cab with unique design.

Throughout its years in service it was staple at many North Fork Fires, because of its large pump capacity and pre-piped deck gun.

The Cutchogue Fire Department is proud of our 92 years of dedicated service to the community. We are always looking for any old & historical articles representing our past for display on our website and in our firehouse.

If any member of the community has any photographs, newspaper clippings or historical artifacts pertaining to the Cutchogue Fire Department, please contact the website team at cutfd@optonline.net or contact the firehouse at 734-6907.

Photos and clippings are able to be scanned and returned to the owners.

Thank you to everyone who has already contributed to this ongoing project.
