On Friday March 12th turned out to be a busy day filled with activity for CFD.

The day started at 4:40 a.m. with a reported Cardiac Arrest/ EMS Alarm, would continue throughout the day with CFD volunteers responding to a total of 5 alarms.

Department members also attend Funeral Services for departed CFD Commissioner Sanford H. Friemann, laying him to rest with Fire Department Honors.

Shortly after the end of Funeral Services . Cutchogue Firefighters were dispatched to area of Grathwohl Rd. near Fanning Rd. in New Suffolk for a reported brush fire at 1:34 p.m

Upon arrival, firefighters found a fast moving fire in a section of brush and reeds long and the road and Wickham's creek that was being fueled by high winds.

Firefighters arriving on Engine 8-5-4 placed two hose lines in service and were able to quickly control the fire before the fire spread across the road.

Units were on scene for approximately 45 minutes. During this alarm CFD was activated for a second emergency, and would respond to an EMS alarm. This would mark the third time in a two day period where CFD would handle multiple alarms at one time.

A rundown of the days alarms are as follows:

04:40 hrs EMS Alarm (cardiac arrest) Stillwater Ave.
05:02 hrs EMS Alarm - Broadwaters Rd.
