CFD Responds to Early Morning Truck Fire

At 6:27 this morning Cutchogue fire Department was dispatched to a reported Brush fire in the area of 805 Cox Lane.

The first responding units were quickly advised by Southold Town Police Communications that the call that they were responding to was being upgraded to possible stucture fire, as they were now receiving reports of a Barn Fire on the property to the rear of the the King Kullen Shopping center.

Responding Police & FD units could see a column of smoke from a distance, and upon arrival located a well involved truck fire on the grounds of Pinewood Perennials, located on Sterling Lane.

The fire was quickly consuming a 10 - wheel box truck and began to burn an adjacent RV trailer.

Firefighters arriving on the first due Engine 8-5-4 deployed several handlines from to knock down the fire, with crews from the other apparatus assisting with manpower and overhaul.

Crews were on scene for approximately 50 minutes.
