MVA - Car Rolls over into Marsh During Early morning Crash

On Sunday Morning at approximately 2:30 a.m. the Cutchogue Fire Department was alerted to respond to a reported Motor vehicle Accident involving a rollover on Skunk Lane in the area of Sterling Rd.

Initial reports advised that the driver was still confined within the vehicle and was unable to get out. First arriving police and FD units arrived to find a 1 vehicle accident in which a mini van failed to negotiate a curve, struck a utility pole and rolled over.

After rolling over the vehicle came to rest on its side in the marsh area approximately 100 feet from the roadway.

The driver appearing uninjured was temporarily confined within the vehicle and was able to exit with through the rear door once it was opened.

The single occupant was treated by EMS personnel and transported to Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Firefighters from Heavy Rescue Truck 8-5-5, made the vehicle safe and stood by with lighting as the vehicle was towed from the marsh.

Firefighters were on scene for approximately 1 hour thirty minutes.

Units: Chiefs 8-5-30, 31, & 32, Ambulance 8-5-17, Heavy Rescue 8-5-5, Fire Police 8-5-6, Medic 1
