On Friday night at about 7:30 p.m.the Cutchogue Fire Department was dispatched to assist the Southold Fire Department at the scene of a working residential structure fire in the Founder's Village condominium complex located at 2555 Youngs avenue in Southold.

First arriving Southold FD and Southold Town Police units found a well involved fire that was quickly consuming the rear portion of the multi unit building.

An alert neighbor had dialed 911 after seeing the smoke and helped to evacuate the homeowner.

Mutual Aid was requested from both the Cutchogue and Greenport Fire Departments to assist at the scene. An additional Engine was requested from Cutchogue while Greenport FD provided a Rapid Intervention Team (R.I.T).

CFD's Quint 8-5-3 made the response. Once on scene CFD firefighters were assigned to assist with the overhaul of the fire building and checked the adjacent unit for any fire extension.

8-5-3 was positioned in the front of the building and it's aerial ladder was deployed and placed in operation to ladder the roof of the building.

Crews operated on scene fro approximately 2 hours.

Due to the quick initial actions by SFD and assisting departments the majority of the fire damages were limited to the unit of origin.

One resident was taken to Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital for observation and treatment for possible smoke inhalation.
