Car Fire and Southold House Fire Highlight a 5 Call Wednesday for CFD

On Wednesday November 17th, CFD Volunteers remained busy throughout the day responding to 5 calls over the course of the day.

The morning included a Mutual Aid response to a working garage fire on Gin Lane in Southold at 10:09 am.

Southold FD was on scene and requested an additional Engine from CFD to respond. Quint 8-5-3 responded and stood by with additional manpower once they arrived on scene, as Southold Firefighters had knocked down the fire and were beginning overhaul.

This call would be the 4th call for service since 8:37 a.m.

Later in the evening at 8:25 p.m. CFD was activated for a reported car fire at 1650 Strohson Rd. in Cutchogue.

PD and first arriving units arrived to find a vehicle fully engulfed in fire that was beginning to extend to a nearby garage.

Units 8-5-2 & 8-5-3 arrived and deployed 2 handlines to extinguish the fire and protect the exposure. Once the fire was extinguished firefighters checked the garage for any extension to the interior of the building. Damages to the garage was limited to the outside.

Additional manpower responded on Engine 8-5-1.

Crews were on scene for approximately 45 minutes.

10:12 am - Mutual Aid EMS Alarm: Soundview Ave. Southold.
10:16 am - Mutual Aid Structure Fire: Gin Lane Southold.
8:25 pm - Car Fire: Strohson Rd.
