On Saturday April 23rd CFD opened its doors to the Community as it hosted an open house and Recuritment day as part of the Statewide Recruit NY campaign sponsored by the Firefighter's Association of the State of New York (FASNY).

This initiative's goal is to highlight the need for new volunteers in Fire and EMS agencies across the state, and encourage people to become more involved with your local Fire Department.

Beginning at 10:00 am the community was treated to a series of activities and demonstrations on the grounds of CFD.

These activities gave the attendess a chance to meet the responders in our communty and highlighted what it takes to be a firefighter or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and tour the apparaus that was on display.

Some of the displays included Firefighing, EMS / Rescue Squad, Water Rescue, Fire Police, Junior Firefighters, and Fire Safety

At 11:00 the large crowd of attendees were treated to a special appereance from a Suffolk County Police Medi-vac Helicopter that landed on the firehouse grounds. Members of the SCPD aviations unit gave a pesentation and provided tours of the airecraft while it was on site

Following the helicopters departure, a mock vehicle accident / extrication demonstration was preformend by CFD firefighters and Rescue Squad personell as they cut up a car for the crowd.

Firefighters also utilized the Departments roof simulatior for a ventilation demonstration.

As there were many families in attendence, and children and and adults alike had the opputunity to tour all of the apparatus and boats, and had a chance to operate a handline alongside our firefighters.

Hot Dog and refreshements were also served as part of the festivities.

The officers and members of the Cutchogue Fire Department would like to thank the community for attending this special event, and look forward to making plans to have it again next year.

The CFD is laways looking for new members to join our family.
