Sunday Afternoon Water Rescue

On Sunday afternoon just after 4:00 p.m. the Cutchogue Fire Department was activated for a reported Water Rescue in the Peconic Bay near Robins Island in New Suffolk.

Two youths were reported to be missing after falling off a tube being towed by a boat while tubing.

Cutchogue Fire Department Boat 8-5-10 assisted Southold Town Police Marine units in a search of the area west of Robbins island.

Other responding units included USCG, Suffolk County Police Helicopter, Southampton Town Police and Mattituck Fire Department.

After a search of the area lasting approximately 30 minutes, the youths were found unharmed on a good samaritan's vessel that had picked them up.
