On Sunday Morning at 8:00 am members of CFD joined together with the Southold Fire Department for a water rescue drill.

The scenario based training took place in Goose Creek in Southold.

After a breifing at Sotuhold FD HQ, units were dispatched to a simulated emergency that was reported to take place somewhere in Good Creek.

The scenario was based upon a report of (2) duck hunters in distress. They were unfamiliar with there location and were distress, with one person having a medical emergency while the other became stuck in the mud and shallow waters of the creek while trying to free boat. Only vaugue information was provided.

Responders were tasked with searching the creek area and upon locating the victims, render treatment and transport them to waiting EMS on the shore.

Both Southold and Cutchogue Fire Departments deployed their inflatabe boats from 2 different locations to begin the search of the area.

The teams working together were able to quickly locate the victims and coordinated their transport to shore.

The drill lasted approximatley 1 hour and also included members of the Southold Town Police Drone Unit.

The members of CFD would like to thank the Southold Fire Department for the oppurtunity train with you and become familiar with waters in our mutal aid areas.
