CFD responds to Overturned Boat near Robins Island

At approximately 0900 hrs on Tuesday Morning the Cutchogue Fire Department was dispatched to a report of an overturned boat with 4 people in the water.

The boaters were aboard a 24-foot center console work boat traveling through Peconic Bay when they took on water from a wave and overturned on the east side Robins Island.

The 4 subjects, were thrown into the water and after a brief period of time were pulled to safety by a neighboring work barge.

The Cutchogue Fire Department along with the assistance of the Southold Town Police Department responded to rescue the boaters and transport them to shore.

Southold Town Police deployed a drone to help assist in locating the boat and victims.

Uppon arrival, the four subjects were located safely on the work barge.

Three of the subjects were then transferred over to the Cutchogue Fire Department's Rescue Boat 8-5-10 for treatment by EMS personnel and brought to the New Suffolk boat ramp for evaluation.

All Three patients appeared to be uninjured and were evaluated and released at the scene.

Units from the Cutchogue Fire Department, Stony Brook University Paramedics, and the Southold Town Police operated on scene for 45 minutes.

The overturned boat was towed to shore by the owner so it could be safely removed from the water.
