| On Friday Afternoon 4:39 p.m., as crews began final preparations for our 68th Annual Chicken Barbecue, the Cutchogue Fire Department was dispatched to reported truck on fire at a local farm on Oregon Rd.
First responders were immediately able to see smoke in the air as they made the response.
The first arriving police and fire dept. units arrived to find a box truck on fire that was near a large barn.
Quick thinking bystanders began to control the fire with extinguishers and moved the truck away from the barn using farm equipment to prevent the fire from spreading to the barn.
Firefighters arrived on with and quickly deployed a handline from the first due engine 8-5-4 to extinguish the fire and then overhauled the contents of the truck to ensure the fire was extinguished.
Crews operated on scene for approx. 30 minutes |
