| On Thursday evening CFD Volunteers utilized the Department's monthly training night to practice their water rescue techniques. Using the Department's Fire –Rescue Boat 8-5-10, Firefighters practiced responding to a simulated boating accident with multiple victims in the water off the western shore of Robins Island. The drill was designed to test the responder's ability to quickly locate the accident scene using the limited information given to them as well as quickly and safely treating and removing the victims from the water. The crew members who entered the water were able to work together and immobilize two patients on backboards and bring them onto the boat through the boats's folding dive door. The drill lasted over an hour and proved to be a worthwhile and realistic drill for everyone who attended. |
