| On Saturday, October 25th, the Suffolk County Fire Academy (SCFA) proudly hosted the “Women in the Fire Service” event. This marks the third consecutive year of offering this valuable training opportunity, which combines both classroom instruction and hands-on firefighting experience
CFD firefighters Beth Young, Molly Waitz, and Alexa Reeve participated in the event brought together over 50 firefighters for a day of professional development and hands-on training held at the Yaphank Training Facility.
The event began with a series of informative classroom lectures, focusing on key aspects of fire service operations and leadership. In the afternoon, attendees participated in a variety of practical training exercises, designed to enhance their skills and foster camaraderie among women in the fire service. This event provided invaluable learning opportunities, promoting both personal and professional growth for all participants.
