| On Friday Afternoon November 14th at about 12:09 p.m. the Cutchogue Fire Department was dispatched to an unknown type of fire at the Southold Town Solid Waste Transfer Station, located on 6155 Cox lane in Cutchogue.
Upon arrival at the scene units were confronted with a debris fire located in the construction waste section of facility.
The fire was quickly engulfing a debris pile large that contained lumber and combustible materials that were piled up awaiting transfer to another facility.
The fire was quickly controlled using 1 handline from Engine 8-5-4.
Firefighters were assisted by the Town of Southold Transfer Station Employees who operated heavy machinery to break part the pile and assist with the final extinguishment and overhaul.
1 person was treated by the CFD Rescue Squad and transported an area hospital for smoke inhalation. |
