| On Tuesday night our firefighters participated in hands-on training at Suffolk Fire Academy focused on Long Island Rail Road emergencies. Firefighters had the opportunity to enter a full-size train at the academy's mock station and practice responding to various emergency scenarios. Everyone gained valuable experience learning about train layouts, access points, and the unique challenges that come with incidents involving the Long Island Railroad trains that run through our district. Over 20 CFD firefighters participated in the training session. The Cutchogue Fire Department like many other fire departments in Suffolk County, routinely travels to the Fire academy several times over the course of the year in order to participate in different training evolutions. Tuesday marked the 5th of different 6 times that CFD will travel to Yaphank this year for live fire and hands -on training. The Officers and Members of the Cutchogue Fire Department would like to thank the instructors and entire academy staff and MTA for giving us the skills and knowledge to help us protect our community. Thank you for an awesome night of training. To learn more about the Suffolk County Fire Academy visit their website: http://www.scfa-li.org/ |
