25 Years Ago: CFD Panthers Win 1989 County Championship

25 years ago this week, the Cutchogue Fire Department celebrated as the Panthers Drill Team was crowned the 1989 Suffolk County Old Fashioned Champions.

The drill took place on Saturday July 8th 1989 at the Fireman's Field in Ridge as part of the annual Suffolk County Parade and Drill hosted by the Selden Fire Department.

At the end of Six events, the Panthers had accumulated 16 points of become the 1989 Suffolk County Old-Fashioned Champions. The Team had last won the title in 1985.

This win marked the second of five County titles in CFD History.

Panther Teams would go on to win three additional titles in 1992, 1993 and 1994.

Members of the 1989 Championship team are: Timothy Horton, Marty Borkowski, LArry Behr, John Zurawski, Francis McCaffery, Joseph Zuhoski, Tom Shalvey Jr., Tom Martin, Tony Blados, Ted Behr, Douglas Wieczorek, and Bill Lademann
