On Tuesday Afternoon around 12:30 pm Cutchogue Firefighters were called to assist the Mattituck Fire Department at the scene of a working structure fire located on Wickham Avenue in Mattituck.

MFD firefighters arrived to find a fire in a large potato barn used by a local farmer.

The first arriving engine from the Mattituck FD quickly located and extinquished the fire, confining it to a small area of the wall and ceiling.

The Cutchogue FD was requested to assist at the scene with a Rapid Intervention Team (R.I.T.) in the event of any firefighter emergencies. The crew made the response aboard Heavy Rescue truck 8-5-5.

Once on scene CFD firefighters stood by for 30 minutes, until the fire was knocked down and units were able to be released from the scene
