On Tuesday, the Cutchogue Fire Department responded to two morning calls occurring within minutes of each other.

The first call came in at 7:08 in the morning when the Department was dispatched for a possible structure fire on Skunk Lane. The home owner dialed 911 when she discovered a heavy smoke condition in her home.

Firefighters arrived on scene and discovered a malfunctioning oil burner, that filled the home with smoke. Firefighters utilized exhaust fans to remove the smoke from the home and ensure that the home was safe for the residents to re-enter.

After about 15 minutes on scene, a second alarm was received for a reported Motor Vehicle Accident, on Nassau Point Rd. near the Nassau Point Causeway. While a crew of firefighters remained on the scene of the first call, additional units responded to the accident scene.

Fire and Police Department units arrived to find a 1 vehicle rollover accident that had occurred when the vehicle slid on "black" ice caused by the morning's freezing temperatures. The vehicle rolled over and came to rest on its wheels.

The three occupants of the vehicle escaped any significant injuries and were transported to Eastern Long Island Hospital for evaluation.

Firefighters check the vehicle for any hazards and remained on scene until the vehicle was towed away.

CFD units remained in service at both scenes for approximately 1 hour.
