Ex-Chief & 72 Year Member Leander B. Glover Jr. Answers his Last Alarm

It is with deep regret and sorrow that the Chiefs of the Cutchogue Fire Department, announce that 72 year member, Ex-Chief Leander B. Glover Jr. has answered his last alarm.

"June" as he was known to many, passed away peacefully on Wednesday night at his home in the company of his family.

June served as Chief of the Cutchogue Fire Department in 1963 and 1964 and at the time of his passing was Cutchogue Fire Department's most senior Ex-Chief.

He is the father of CFD Ex-Chiefs Everett and Allan Glover.

For the past 72 years June remained an active firefighter holding many positions throughout the Fire Company, and until recent time continued to serve as an active member of the CFD Fire Police Squad.

He also served as a Suffolk County Fire Coordinator for Southold Town for many years, before retiring from that position in the mid 1990’s and had the designation as coordinator “801”.

June was also known for his involvement the North Fork Volunteer Fireman’s Association, where he served for many years as a parade and drill official.

Funeral Arrangements are as follows:

Visitation Hours:

Friday April 3rd at the Coster-Heppner Funeral Home located at 32470 Route 25 in Cutchogue from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A Firematic Service will be held on Friday Evening at 7:30pm.

Funeral Service:

Saturday April 4th at 10:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home with Fire Department honors.
Burial will follow at the Cutchogue Cemetery.

The Chiefs, Officers and Members of the Cutchogue Fire Department would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to Evie, Allan and the entire Glover Family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time.
