The Cutchogue branch of Capital One won’t be open much longer. But that doesn’t mean the bank isn’t doing what it can to help its neighbors before the doors are shut.

Capital One branch manager Diane Biondi, district manager David McDowell and treasurer Patty Stewart — a member of the Cutchogue Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary — presented the department with a $2,000 donation Friday morning.

“The firefighters have supported the Cutchogue community in many ways,” Mr. McDowell said. “Capital One has always been a supporter of volunteer fire departments here.”

The $2,000 will go towards the firefighters’ community programs, Fire Chief Bill Brewer said, like its scholarships and Christmas celebrations. He said the department was “grateful” for the bank’s support over the years.

“It’s obviously a sad thing to see them leave,” Mr. Brewer said. “We’ve always been proud of working with them.”

The Chiefs, Officers and Members of the Cutchogue Fire Department would like to thank the Capital One Bank Corp. and the staff of the Cutchogue Branch for their recent donation to CFD.

Thank you Capital One for your many years of support to CFD and our fundraisers that we have held throughout the years.

Thank you for being a true partner in our community!
