On Thursday, CFD firefighters participated in the Department's monthly training night. This month's drill took place on Commerce Drive located in the North Fork Industrial Park.

The drill was designed to focus on developing several important firefighting skills for our new members and officers that included size-up, communication, and hoseline advancement.

Firefighters were given the scenario of an unknown type of fire and responded to find a working fire in a dumpster, and were tasked with handling the situation accordingly.

Once the fire was extinguished the scenario was critiqued by everyone involved to make it a valuable learning experience for all involved.

Several evolutions took place allowing all fire fighters to participate and practice the different skills.

The Officers and members of the Cutchogue Fire Department would like to thank Mattituck Sanitation and Peconic Recycling for donating the use of a dumpster for the night's training.
