Early Morning Garage Fire in Mattituck

Just after 2:30 am Cutchogue Firefighters were dispatched to assist the Mattituck Fire Department at the scene of a working fire on on Peconic Bay Blvd. in Laurel.

Southold Town Police and MFD units were dispatched to the Peconic Bay Blvd. area after several 911 calls were received for smoke and a fire in the area.

Mattituck Fire Department units under the direction of 2nd Asst. Chief Ted Webb arrived to find a fire 20 x 20 detached garage that had consumed the entire building.

The Cutchogue Fire Dept. was requested to respond to the scene with a Rapid Intervention Team. (R.I.T.)

CFD Heavy Rescue 8-5-5 made the response as the R.I.T. team with a crew of 8.

While on Scene CFD firefighters assisted with the overhaul of the building and and provided relief crews as the last host spots were extinguished.

CFD Firefighters worked for approximatley 2 hour before being released.
