Afternoon Brush Fire

On Tuesday May 13th, a day where the temperatures in the region were approaching 90 degrees, Cutchogue Firefighters were dispatched to Cox lane for a brush fire reported to be in a field behind a home.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a section of brush that was burning and was starting to extend and threaten a nearby barn.

Firefighters were able to access the area using the Departments brush truck 8-5-12 and quickly extinguished the fire using several hoselines and water extinguishers before the fire spread to the barn.

They gained access to the barn, and checked the exterior wall of for any extensions.

Units were on scene for 30 minutes.
