The sight of the large white tent on the firehouse grounds in Cutchogue can mean only one thing. It's time for the annual CFD Chicken Barbecue.

On Tuesday the members of the United Fire Company No .1 began the week long preparation for the Department's 62nd Annual Chicken Barbecue to be held on Saturday.

Over the course of this week, CFD members will dedicate many hours of their time to prepare for this "end of the summer event". Members gather at headquarters to set up the tables, chairs and tents for this year's event under the direction of chairperson Chris Voegel.

For 63 years, the members of United Fire Company No. 1, working side by side with the CFD Ladies Auxiliary have hosted this annual fundraising event.

The annual sold-out event has grown since its beginning to now serve over 3200 people, and is believed to be Long Island's Largest Chicken Barbecue.

The CFD would like to thank the community for making this event a 63 year tradition.
