January 31, 2020

This picture recently surfaced on facebook showing our 1949 American LaFrance pumper on parade in Greenport.

This pumper designated "Pump 2" or 8-5-4 remained in service until 1974 when it was replaced by a 1974 Ward LaFrance.

At the time of its delivery, this truck was the first custom, enclosed cab fire engine on the North Fork.

Other pictures show the truck along with others from the CFD fleet during that time.

Today the truck's whereabouts are unkown.

The Cutchogue Fire Department is proud of our 92 years of dedicated service to the community. We are always looking for any old & historical articles representing our past for display on our website and in our firehouse.

If any member of the community has any photographs, newspaper clippings or historical artifacts pertaining to the Cutchogue Fire Department, please contact the website team at cutfd@optonline.net or contact the firehouse at 734-6907.

Photos and clippings are able to be scanned and returned to the owners.

Thank you to everyone who has already contributed to this ongoing project.

Please visit our historical photo galleries for a look back into our proud history

I believe after it was traded in the Terryville FD purchased it. Greg Boyd tried to get it saved as an antique for the Department, but wasn’t successful. Also note the pump operator panel was located on the passengers side of the truck which kept the operator away from the traffic side of the rig in most situations.
