On Saturday afternoon Cutchogue Firefighters along with firefighters representing over 30 other fire departments participated in the Greenport Fire Department's 175th annual George Washington's Birthday Parade.

Since the founding of Greenport Fire Department in 1845, regardless of the weather, this annual parade has been held every February for the past 175 years, as firemen march proudly through the streets of Greenport.

With the day's temperatures in the 30's, at the start of the parade, 25 CFD firefighters along with the CFD Ladies Auxiliary took to the streets led by the CFD Marching Band.

Following the parade, all the participants gathered at the Greenport Firehouse for refreshments and homemade clam chowder made by the Greenport FD.

Thank you to the CFD Fire Police squad, who along with other North Fork Fire Departments provided Fire Police units to assist with traffic control throughout the parade route so that the Greenport members could celebrate their Anniversary and participate in the parade.

The Chiefs, Officers and Members of the Cutchogue Fire Department would like congratulate our brothers and Sisters at GFD on celebrating 175 years of service to the community.

Thank you to everyone who turned out for the Day.
