On Thursday evening members of CFD participated in a memorial service remembering fallen NYPD Detective Brian Simonsen who died tragically in the line of duty one year ago.

Members of the community gathered at his graveside in his hometown of Jamesport for a candlelight prayer service.

CFD joined together with Riverhead Fire Department to create a ladder arch displaying a large american flag that hung from two ladder trucks across South Jamesport Ave., a road that was recently named "Det. Brian Simonsen Way" in his honor.
