On March 17th the Chiefs announced that Veteran Firefighter John "Jack" Kane had answered his last alarm.

Jack was a Navy veteran and a 57 year member of CFD. In recent years he remained active in the CFD Fire Police Squad.

A Funeral Mass was held Friday at at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church. Burial with Fire Department and military and FD honors to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Despite the Ongoing COVID-19 pandemic CFD found ways to honor Jack using proper social distancing to ensure that he was given the respoect he deserved.

Then on March 19th, The Chiefs announced that Veteran Firefighter Theodore O. "Sarge" Beebe, had also answered his last alarm.

"Sarge" as he was known to many, joined CFD in 1955 after serving in the Army, and remained an active member through 1975. He was also a past treasurer of the Cutchogue Fire District.

Ted was a lifelong Cutchogue resident and retired sergeant with Southold Town Police Department.

He Passed away on at the age of 89.

He will be honored on Wednesday during a private graveside service with family and friends.

Ironically, both of these gentleman had ties to CFD's beginnings. Both Ted and Jack's fathers were among the original Charter members that formed the United Fire Company # 1 on February 15, 1928. Their fathers names are on a plaque on the front of the firehouse.

The Chiefs, Officers and Members of the Cutchogue Fire Department would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to entire Kane & Beebe families and all of Jack & Ted's friends here at CFD.

Our Thoughts and prayers are with them during these difficult times.
