On Friday afternoon members of CFD gathered at the home of one of their fellow members to give him a special welcome home surprise.

Firefighter and longtime weekend houseman Don Richert returned home after a hard fought battle with COVID-19 illness.

He was released form care Friday to return home after being treated for the past 3 months in different area facilities.

Members of CFD, his friends and family waited anxiously to welcome him home and cheered as he emerged from his car.

CFD's apparatus lined the roadway leading up to his home.

We are happy to see Don healthy and back home in Cutchogue.

We wish him well as he continues on his road to recovery.

Thank you to all of the dedicated healthcare workers throughout our nation who have been working tirelessly throughout this pandemic to ensure people like Don get the care they need. You are all true heroes!
