| With the warmer weather now upon us, members of the CFD Water Rescue Team have been working hard preparing for the upcoming boating season.
After conducting preventative maintenance over the winter, CFD's primary Fire-Rescue Boat, 8-5-10 was launched for the season this afternoon.
The boat will be stationed at a dock in New Suffolk Harbor and will remain in the water throughout the year until the winter season arrives.
Having our boat docked in this location allows it to have access to a variety of areas within Peconic Bay and be able able to respond quickly to any emergency.
CFD also operates a smaller16' Zodiac rigid hull inflatable boat that is trailered for use in shallow waters and LI Sound.
In recent months CFD has been working with other Southold Town Fire Departments to coordinate joint trainings for the upcoming season.
