| Last month, during the December meeting the members of the Cutchogue Fire Department held their annual elections to choose the Chief and two Assistant Chiefs who will lead the department for the coming year. Additionally, the officers of the United Fire Company No. 1 were also elected by the membership.
The newly elected Chiefs and company officers officially took office at the regular monthly meeting that was held on January 1st, where they were sworn in by the Board of Fire Commissioners and Chief Michael C. Boken. In addition to recognizing the new officers for 2026, this meeting would be a historic moment in CFD’s history.
The January 2026 meeting would become the first official function to be held in our new firehouse. Despite the holiday, a large majority of our membership was on hand to be a part of the night. For many of our members this would be the first time inside the new building. As a symbol of our past, CFD’s antique 8-5-2A, was brought home from storage and backed into the apparatus bays to welcome our members when they arrived. This would be the first apparatus to be housed in the new building.
Once the final construction items, and finishing touches are completed in the coming weeks, it will be replaced on the truck floor by the current fleet of apparatus. The Cutchogue Fire Department is pleased to announce the following 2026 Department Officers:
Chief: Michael C. Boken (8-5-30)
